so your saying if you thaw/on layer 0 you can select them?
Everyone has a photographic memory, Some just don't have film.
They say money can't buy happiness, but it can buy Bacon and that's a close second.
Sometimes the question is more important than the answer. (Thanks Kerry for reminding me)

Yes, that's what I said. However, keep in mind that 'knowing' there was a 'problem' with the data I ran i through a MAP query to straighten it's arcs out.

I use MAP quite a bit this way to filter data that I receive from others.

See the problem is/was that layer 0 and defpoints are connected in some evil way to acad.  I know this, so I modified those objects on that layer to slide onto another layer during the query process, the INSTANT I had them onscreen, they were selectable, and on a new layer.

See the following: http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/ps/item?siteID=123112&id=2893884&linkID=9240617

Excerpt from above: "Note: The DEFPOINTS layer was created to hold non-plotting information about dimensions. This layer is not designed to be used to hold drawing objects other than dimension points. "

I put them on a different layer as well and they were selectable.

As my Master often says to me:

"Just because you can does not mean you should"

And just as often:

"The problem is the solution"
