Updating multiple block definitions
« on: April 29, 2008, 11:27:23 AM »
Hey guys,

I've created many blocks in a drawings and have nested those blocks inside of assemblies. Now I found out I need to add another attribute to them. I updated the block but the previous insertions did not update. Take a look at the attached drawing. I need to update the top 2 blocks to include the X attribute like the bottom one. Maybe I'm just having a brain fart this morning but how can I update the existing blocks?

I don't think I worded it right. All of the blocks contain the attribute but what I'm really after is that I want the attribute to be visible which it is not unless I reinsert it. I think I need to reinsert all the blocks where they are now. Does that make anymore sense?

Dan,

What you are looking for is ATTSYNC.

tested on acad 2004
both methods (attsync or via battman) work well on 'update block definitions.dwg'

do a 'regen'

Do the new attributes that you aren't seeing have values?

Hmmm interesting. I am using 2002 so I went over and tested it on our test machine that has 2007 on it and it works fine. I just need to do a regenall to get the attribute to display in the assembly. I guess it must be another wonderful feature of 2002  :pissed:
