Working in 3 views
« on: April 17, 2008, 11:03:48 AM »
I like to work in 3 viewports in modelspace - the large v.p. on the left, the two smaller ones to the right. My question is, how do I re-size the viewports? I'd like to make the 2 views on the right smaller so I have more room in a bigger view on the left.

It can be done through the use of dividing and joining the larger viewports

Use the 4 view option creating the 1 left -3 right configuration, then use the join option to join all 3 of the right views then use the 2 horizontal view to subdivide the new right view.

Like such:
Quote from: command line
Command: -VPORTS
Enter an option [Save/Restore/Delete/Join/SIngle/?/2/3/4] <3>: j
Select dominant viewport <current viewport>:
Select viewport to join: Regenerating model.
Command:  -VPORTS
Enter an option [Save/Restore/Delete/Join/SIngle/?/2/3/4] <3>: j
Select dominant viewport <current viewport>:
Select viewport to join: Regenerating model.
Command:  -VPORTS
Enter an option [Save/Restore/Delete/Join/SIngle/?/2/3/4] <3>: 2
Enter a configuration option [Horizontal/Vertical] <Vertical>: h Regenerating
model.

voila .. done .. now make a template

Dunno if its there in newer versions, but under the VIEW pull-down, select VIEWPORTS, then NEW VIEWPORTS and you'll get a dialog box of viewport configurations.  Be sure to look at the 2D/3D button, and notice also that you can change the viewpoint of the viewports by selecting the viewport in the dialog box and changing it in the box below.

Additionally, once you get a viewport configuration setup the way you like it, you can save it (along with the viewpoints (& DVIEW clips) in the viewports).  We have several saved in our template files so they are always there.
