Floorplan
« on: May 14, 2009, 01:26:03 PM »
Hello everyone I was wondering if anyone knows of a way that I could use an overall floorplan drawing and be able to select a certain area on that floorplan and have that area come up as an enlarged/detailed drawing. Is this something possible in AutoCAD?

Thanks in advance,
Conrad

D'oh!
Yeah, I was thinking that the detail already existed as a separate drawing...

never mind.  :)

I created something similar for plant managers, using links to dwf files. Basically, click on the product line, and that takes you to a close-up detail of that product line, then all components had their respective links to the detail drawings, etc. Is that what you're talking about?

Sometimes the easy way isn't that visible.  The whole ' seeing the tree.... forest ' thing.

Sorry out in the field haven't had much time to check the computer. I believe what I am looking for is something similar to what DGCS posted. Also, is it possible to have it linked from one drawing to another drawing?. I appreciate the input I have gotten so far.

Thanks

Yes, set them all up as dwf's and go backwards to until you've reached the overall floorplan.

- Setup parts
- Setup sub-assemblies
- Setup assemblies
- Setup floor plan details
- Setup overall floor plan

The users would have to have the dwf viewer installed.
