Title: Here is a nub question...
Post by: AVCAD on January 09, 2007, 11:35:57 AM
How do you fix the cross hairs....its not a UCS problem like it usually is....

just a side note...why the hell do Architects always decide to rotate the Crosshairs or UCS...do they not know what the rotate command does?

grid angle thing?

Tangent thing?

Not sure with AutoCAD.  DataCAD it's obvious.

As for rotating the cursor, there are many benefits to it.  Not to mention the civil guys yell at you otherwise.

You can use the 'plan' command, and hit enter to rotate the drawing so that x = left y = up, so then your crosshairs will be normal.  I use ucs instead of rotate, it is better as you don't disturb the drawing, only the way you view it.

Edit:  Whoops... my reply won't help you.... I just nocticed the picture is show that the ucs is shown correctly.... CmdrDuh got it right with 'snapang'..

snapang = system variable (snap angle), which is what you changed in the dialog box.

I presume you set polar tracking and snapangle to the same angle to use this.
But do many people use this?  (I understand changing the ucs and using plan )
How do you draw a rectangle quickly?

to match the angle of what their drawing.  In your case it seems to match the angles of the structures to the left of the crosshairs.

I get some of the most funky files from architects...what you dont see in these drawings is that not only did they rotate the crosshairs but they then rotated the UCS to get everything back to a normal "north and south" Then when xrefed in to a sheet file they then changed the ucs of the viewport to rotate again back to the original way...

me..xref in thier background files, rotate the objects just xrefed in the new drawing so everything is a normal "North and South" and then save that file to work with. Now when I xref in that new file to a sheet file everything is on the UP and UP. And all I have to do is rotate the North symbol to show a true north. one day will start listening to me...:ugly:
