Double-Click Edit Doesn't Work
« on: January 30, 2009, 01:40:25 PM »
I've got DBLCLKEDIT turned ON, PICKFIRST set to 1, all of the settings/commands for double-click actions in the CUI appear to be in order, yet when I double-click on a piece of text, or mtext (for example), I see *Cancel* flash at the command line a few times, then I'm prompted to select the object I double-clicked on to edit in the first place.  I'm baffled.  Any one have any ideas?

what happens should you select the item, then right click and select the edit operation you want from there? (the POP menu)

If I select MText, right-click, MTEXT EDIT the editor comes up like it's supposed to with the selected text ready for editing.

say, what version is this in???

Issue

You double-click on dimension text displays, and the Properties dialog box is displayed, not the Edit Text dialog box as you expected.

Solution

The DBLCLKEDIT variable is supposed to control this behavior, but has no effect in AutoCAD® Land Development Desktop 2i. This is resolved and functions correctly in Autodesk® Land Desktop 3.

Use one of the following work-arounds in AutoCAD Land Development Desktop 2i:

Enter ddedit on the AutoCAD command line and select the text.
Click the Edit Text button on the Modify II toolbar.
Edit the drawing using Land Enabled AutoCAD, where the double-click functions as expected.

oddly enough it MAY be working...from this little gem: http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/ps/item?siteID=123112&id=2880695&linkID=9240617

Issue

You want a quick method to start the editing process for an object.

Solution

You can double-click an object to begin the editing process or to display the properties of that object. The DBLCLKEDIT system variable is used to control this behavior. It must be turned on for double-click editing to work. When you double-click most objects, the Properties window opens and the properties for the selected object are displayed.

Following is a list of object types and the dialog box that is displayed when you double-click the object type:

But it worked before.  And oddly enough, it also doesn't work in Architecture 2008 (which I also have installed) but it DOES work for Civil 3D 2008 (which, like Architecure and MEP, I also have installed.... on the same computer.... right now.....yup).

I have a default profile saved on the network.  When things get goofy, I rename the profile and restart AutoCAD - forcing it to recreate the profile from the network - and all is well (until now).  I don't get it.

I'll check back in a bit - got some "real work" stuff to do.  So until next time... I'm out like an epileptic in a calligraphy contest!

Haha, Nice!

Do you own the rights to that, or can I freely distribute?
