Free or Inexpensive CAD programs
« on: April 20, 2009, 09:13:18 AM »
Does anyone know of any free or inexpensive CAD programs?  Other than BRL-CAD, BricsCAD and IntelliCAD?

A guy at work is looking for something for personal use.  Programming languages/options aren't a priority since he doesn't know the first thing about programming.  He's just looking for something to mess around with in his free time.

I'm waiting to check out DoubleCAD myself.
Would be nice if lisp worked with it.

Another one I found, ZwCAD, works with LSP, DCL and VBA.

Try FelixCAD they have a free download for the basic version.

The commands are Autocad compatible and from what I remember Lisp is the same as AutoCAD.

ZwCAD is an Intellicad based product from memory which I think you will find with most of the 'clones' that closely resemble acad.
My pick of them would be Bricscad though.

Don't forget Google's free Sketchup. It's fun to mess about with.
