In LT 2008, how do you change Dims from 3' to 36"?
In the Dim Style Manager under the 'Primary Units' tab, I have gone thru the options and can't find it. I have the Unit format as Architectural right now and the Dim shows up as 3'.
I don't use Dims much so I always stumble thru them every time I use them.

You could change the primary units to Decimal, but you won't get the inch marks (")
Or, change primary units to Fractional, and use a (") as a suffix, AFAIK.

I found that, but I would think there HAS to be a way to just show inches.

You'd actually have to set your UNITS to be INCHES - Fractional or Decimal... in the Primary Units tab of the Dim Style... that's assuming it's the same as regular ACAD... I never heard anything about the dimension styles being different from LT to vanilla... but YMMV
If you don't get the " mark.... add the " to the "suffix" in the dim style.

How many dimensions do you have to put in this format?
If nothing else, you could always override the dimension if it is a onsie twosie kind of thing. I realize its not optimal..... :|

LT2008 doesn't have 'inches' as an option under 'Unit format'.
The options are:
Scientific
Decimal
Engineering
Architectural
Fractional
Windows Desktop
Or, am I looking in the wrong place?

Nope. Doesn't do it. That is what I have it set at and it shows 3'.
Looks like I may be SOL.

Just don't remember to add the Inch Tick mark to the "Suffix" there.
Remember: Autocad doesn't have a clue what you're drawing... inches, meters, miles, light years, parsecs, fathoms, or butt cracks... you have to tell it what it is... you just draw them so-many-units in length... the label is just superficial.

I would set Primary units to decimal, suppress/set precision to 0 decimal places, and add " to suffix (unless you want to see decimal pieces of an inch i.e. 36.34" instead of 36")

I'm not sure what you mean, but I found a fix.
'Text override' in the Properties box.

Whilst that does work, you will have to override every dim to fix the problem. You should figure out how to set the style so all dims work correctly

In this particular drawing the override will suffice. But, as you said, I would like to find the setting to make it my standard.

DUDE! NO! *slaps hand* Bad Drafter!
Overridden dimensions are the bane of CAD technology. If you must, then go on, but that's the one thing I'll ever universally admonish a person for. This is opinion, mind you, so take it or leave it.
Just get you dimension style correct, man!
When I asked how you draw... when you a draw a line "1.0000" units long... in your head, are you thinking one inch long, or one foot long? This will matter a bit.
Primary Units tab: See below... note the suffix box, the unit format box, and the preview.

If you use fractional inches instead of decimal inches (example: 26 1/4" as opposed to 26.250") then you would select Fractional in the UNIT FORMAT instead of Decimal and the precision is obviously just whatever your office uses.

I kept missing the 'Suffix' part - I didn't understand what it was for.

The only thing I use the suffix for is when I ever have to dimension diameters. In this industry, the diameter symbol goes as you read it... 21"%%c Twenty-one inches diameter. The symbol is last.
Autocad puts the symbol in front, as is standard in manufacturing, machining and others, which is a bit backwards, but natural if you're in that industry (as I was when I started)
