Export 3D Faces to .dxf?
« on: May 25, 2008, 02:31:30 PM »
Is there a way to export the 3d faces of a surface to a .dxf file? I thought I could just explode the surface to get my 3d faces, but most all of them are just disappearing for some reason (after exploding the surface and the resulting block).

Upon further investigation it seems that they are there even though they don't show up in plan view. If I 3d orbit they do display. How odd.

Check your style and verify that the 2d or Plan view display for those components is toggled ON.
It might make a difference if visual style is set to 2d wireframe, or wireframe.

I guess there is no way to directly export to .dxf though eh? That would be a fancy little thing to have available since not all programs support a landxml import.

Yes an no.

Surfaces>>Utilities>>Extract objects from surface...
And extract the 3dlines. Wblock those lines to a new file, and run DXFOUT from there. Let me know how it goes.
