C3D Training is Broken, Really?
« on: July 08, 2008, 10:29:58 AM »
An interesting email hit my box this AM. For years, I'm sure you all have heard me suggest that the autodesk vendor network training method doesn't work. And now you are going to be seeing marketing based on the very reason I suggested all along were the reasons. The interesting thing is, the solution that is being offered is essentially MORE of the same.

http://www.civil3d.com/2008/07/the-training-system-is-broken/

Read this offering carefully and it reveals you are going to pay to watch THE SAME CLASS, the one you did not learn from over and over again, yeah that makes sense. Sometimes the user needs a different example of how things work, to understand the tools and process involved.

It would appear they believe that if the same bad training is bad for you, more bad training must be better.

(Note: I am not suggesting the trainers have no skills.) I am agreeing that the system is broken, and that their suggested solution to the problem isn't. And by the way, user can download my training videos, or the ones ay the Civil Community at autodesk, without buying a class, or a support contract to go with it. I find it interesting that the users I train need no support contract after the training ends.

Also should you get sucked into their support vortex, you then get access to their user knowledge base, which is some real fancy huckstering that says; We might not have the answer to your question, however we'll get it from somewhere,(the swamp, or discussion groups) and then well be right back to sell you the answer we got for free.
