Error on Import of Shapefile
« on: August 21, 2009, 10:42:25 AM »
I'm trying to import a shapefile and C3D crashes with a fatal error. Here are 3 from the error log:

FATAL ERROR:  Unhandled Access Violation Reading 0x0000 Exception at 1dac10cch
FATAL ERROR:  Unhandled Access Violation Reading 0x0004 Exception at 19965609h
FATAL ERROR:  Unhandled Access Violation Reading 0x0000 Exception at 1c8310cch

If I try to connect via data connect I get this message:

There was a problem accessing the connection's schema information.

If I try to connect via data connect, then OK out of said error message, then go back to Map > Tools > Import it appears to begin importing the data, then crashes after some time.

Corrupted data files? What?

we (you) will need to find out where that SHP file originated, AND or ensure that you have the rest of the databases that normally accompany SHP files.

and or post a copy of the SHP file so that we me test the file and possible solutions to the error

I believe I figured it out. I went back to the ftp I downloaded it from and compared file sizes. Apparently my ftp download got interrupted about midway through the download. I'm finishing it and will then try to reimport.

I actually told it to save the last time it crashed and when I went back to recover the file only 1/2 the data was there so I had a hunch something went awry with the download.

Thx
