I have a note on my wall to start bombarding Chad with emails on Monday.

I've just been mucking around in VBA - NO WHERE NEAR AS ROBUST AS ODCL.  I can't afford the time it's going to take to learn C#.   what to do.  :|

It concerns me a little that eMails are undelivered and the site is 404'd.

Perhaps it's time to take a fallback position ... and to decide how to pacify a couple of clients.

I'm a little peeved to say the least, particularly considering the assurances I was given.

I sent an email to support@objectdcl.com in early April and got a reply back from Chad a week later from objectdcl@yahoo.com.  It was encouraging to get a reply as I wanted some help about some bugs I found while evaluating the package.

It was looking like there would be support and maintenance to justify a purchase....   :|

Hi flannigan,

There MAY still be support, upgrade and maintenance for AC2007 ...

The issue may be a server glitch, leastways that's my hope .. :-)

Well, I switched my few remaining dialogs over to VBA this weekend.  VBA's pretty slick - I should've learned it a while ago.  If you can live without re-sizing and some minor encumbrances with modeless forms it's not bad.  I'm still doing most of the work with AutoLISP though.  If I have time I'll probably start switching some stuff over (at least the stuff that makes sense.)  For now it's back to work . . ..

Chad advised me today that the site will be back up soon.

No word yet on the ODCL for 2007.

I wish Chad all the best - he's a brilliant guy.  For my situation VBA makes more sense.  However, it (VBA) pales in comparison to ODCL.  SharpLISP and ODCL could've been a great tool for every AutoCAD user and an economic bonus to companies wanting to streamline their drawing process.  But alas DOT NET, Revit, and the like have put an end to development in LISP.  Sad.

Good luck Chad.

Indead, what a surprise when I realised the website has closed.

I'm not fully in love with 2007 but .....

ODCL should be integrated into Acad, don't you think ? It would be more useful than their dynamic blocks  ;-)

Dynamic blocks are one the the best new features to come along in a while.

I think they should just trash the DCL language for ODCL.

<game buzzer> Illegal procedure, 2 minutes. </game buzzer>

And take away the ability to write and call dialogues on the fly? No thank you.

If anyone has ever used the atoms utility posted about it does exactly that.

Vanilla dcl is anemic, long in the tooth, even wimpy (list box limits are dumb etc.) -- but it still works.
