I found lisp data to be easier to write. Afralisp has some tutorials on xdata. Stig "probably" wrote them. I know you start with -3 in your dxf list of items or something like that.

Come to think of it, I only ever used XData for a pline-area thingy - like the one asked about in a recent thread - but it was later rewritten to use Dictionaries instead ('cos dicts are much better suited to hold entity references).
