How would you get this on 2006.
« on: March 17, 2006, 01:11:51 PM »
Have you ever tried to get this (hope this is new and fun 4 U) :

?

From my friend Eric : little game
If you're not registered, you won't know that I found the first (after him) how to get that strange image in Acad 2006.

It is not a block or anything special, just a LWPOLYLINE.
I'm going on the moutains this WE and very soon to bed, so I let you search. Have fun, if possible.

Okay, I'll bite: Huh?  :?

I don't speak French so I have no idea what was on that link you posted...

Maybe I don't see it... but what about the image is strange?

What's so special about it other than the strange double dimensioning ?

You must find a way to get this image on AutoCAD.
It looks like a bug. It's only a LWPOLYLINE.

Actually, it looks like an LWPOLYLINE.

I still don't get it  :ugly:

Neither do I, unless he is talking about a problem with using dynamic input with 2006.  The procedure is a bit cumbersome with dynamic input and I have just turned that feature off so it works like all previous versions.

Me too.

But you seem not to understand that this image is not obvious. I challenge you to get the same screenshot (not using Photoshop off course), just for fun, not to annoy any of you.

Try to get the same image with only one grip and all the dimensions around and you win the competition. If you don't get that this i s a challenge it must be that you didn't try !

I turned of all of the features in AutoCAD 2006 and now it works like good 'ole R13!!  :lmao:
j/k

You've got my curiosity really going.  This is just one LWPOLYLINE? What does it say when you do a LIST on it, or is that giving away the secret?

Let's say it is a bug.....

Well it is a funny game,....on a LWPOLYLINE, I confirm !

What manipulation should you do on the LWpoly to get this ? :ugly:

I'll give the answer in a few days, if nobody finds.

Well Bert?

Are you going to let the cat out of the bag on this one?

I know I'm dying to know.

OK !

Draw a poly then move it from 0,0,0 to 0,0,1e99

It is a famous formula for those who want to "flatten" objects except that you don't run it 'till the end (you don't move back 0,0,0 to 0,0,-1e99)

Then you get this strange image !

In French we give the "tongue" to the cat (strange expression, isn't it ?)... Happy to know that in English, we let him go out of a bag,...cats don't like being in a bag !

I wonder if there is any connection to the English expression "What's the matter?  Cat got your tongue?" (ususally said to a person who can't find the words to speak).

Interesting. . .

Even on AutoCAD 2005, you can apply that and to any polyline and get just one grip, nice to move the object and keep his geometry, until one simple remove the elevation to 0.0...

Very good.

I love to discover languages that way, muh better than scool or than in between non-native conversations. We say, I got the word at the "end" of the tongue in such a case
"Donner sa langue au chat" To give our own tongue to the cat is what you did all. I'm the cat !

Yeah, same in english "I got the word on tip of my tongue"

Don't see the advantage compared to a move in real-time or even using grips/move instead of going thru the whole formula.
But, Luis I just wanted to be tongue-in-cheek :lmao:

Click the  "Reply with Quote" found in the post you want to quote from to get the name added, then you will see the syntax needed to add your own name.

Thanks for that CAB.
I guess the Quote icon is close to useless then if we have to resort to a different path. Cheers.

I find it useful when I bring in a large body of text i want to quote.
Like something from the ACAD Help File for instance.

And you can plug in the name you are quoting from if an outside source just by
following that syntax [ quote author=Serge]
