Replace Blocks With Attributes
« on: April 30, 2004, 04:33:56 PM »
Hello to Everyone:

I have a lisp routine that allows you to replace blocks, by selecting a replacement block, on the drawing, and then selecting the blocks you want to replace (using any AutoCAD selection criteria).

However, it does not recognize blocks with attributes, thus the graphic portion of the block is replaced but the attribute fields assume the default value of the attribute tags.

Is there a routine that will not only replace the block but the attributes as well. This would be very helpful....!

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Regards,
Vince

Attributes are not really part of the block definition, although you have to include them when you create a block befinition. To demonstrate this simply use entmake to create an insert of a block tha thas attributes.

You might try attsync ... it should add attributes to the blocks that don't have them but should.
