XREF Layers/Colors...
« on: August 15, 2005, 01:06:55 PM »
Drawing "AA" has drawing "BB" as an Attached Xref. In drawing "AA" I have changed the "BB" xref layer colors. If you open drawing "CC" and Overlay drawing "AA" the "BB" layer color settings do not carry over. Is there a way to get "BB" xref layer colors to hold in other drawings that xref "AA"?

Thanks,
Dan

The only thing that comes to mind is that you can export the layer state in drawing "AA" then import it into "CC"

You can set VISRETAIN variable to "1" in your "CC" drawing, all visibility, color and lintype setings will remain the same for any xref drawings you attach to it no matter what changes are made in the other drawings.  If changes are made to those drwaings that you want to incorporate, the VISRETAIN can be set to "0" and the xref reloaded will now reflect the last saved layer status in those drawings (CAUTION - this includes any such settings you have previously changed and wanted to keep).  VISRETAIN  can then be reset to "1" in drawing "CC" to preserve these changes.

That doesn't make the "BB" layer settings in "AA" carry over to "CC" at insertion time though
