Haven't heard from Kenny, either, since he moved to Cape Town. If he got tired of the stuff I know where he's coming from but it sure doesn't sound like Kenny to close down so silently.

Kenny took a job with IntellaCAD awhile back.  (back when he moved to Cape Town) I know this cause he was asking for palin ol lisp for alot of tools that are done in VL.

But thats really bad news indeed.

Hmm... Kenny is talented enough to develop those on his own I would suspect ...

can't say I have ... and unfortunately I am not understanding the reference ...

If you have VL tools you should be able to implement something very close in plain ol lisp pretty easily.

Oh yes he could/can. I can immagine that there  was just alot of stuff he wanted converted. (Hard stuff!) He was just asking for help. It was just a general one line request in one of his posts.

I seriously doubt it will be back.

Sweet. Wish it were more complete and archived the graphics too, for example.

You can still get what looks like most of the tutorials from google's cached pages. Try this [  site:www.afralisp.com tutorial ] in a google search.

So where should I post the 4 zip files I have from Afralisp?

I've got 52 HTML pages from Afralisp saved on my machine, including all the graphics. All concerning tutorials for lisp and dcl. If anyone wants them, I will send them.

Paul.

Cool guys! I would like some of them articles guys.

But I was just talking with Mark on the phone and he had a good point. He said:
"How long do you think it would take for users of theSwamp to re create those?"
"You mean just tutorials and stuff?"
"yeah ...I bet in a month we would have a ton of em!"
"Oh yeah. we have a lot of knowledgeable people on the board! ...I bet we could."

So who would be interested in creating tutorials?

Even if you have them, are they copyrighted? If so, I wouldn't load them as is.

A very sad day indeed. I learned a lot about VL from Afralisp site.
It will be missed.

Yes I think we can rebuild it. Bigger, Stronger, Faster… [sound="Bionic"]... Hehe

The copy write may just stop us from posting the information as is, but we maybe able to get permission to do so.
If not I am sure as a forum we can duplicate and improve on the information Kenny has provided us, thereby making the information our own. Which should not infringe on any copy write.
I will volunteer any spare time I have to replicating some of the information into tutorials. Just let me know what and when.

I sent off an email as soon as i heard, but i seriously doubt he'll reply. (And im not gonna ask for it. If he wants to give it up then he'll ask the person he wants to give it to.)

I think this whole situation is realy sad. I too learned from Kenny. ...i still was!! His site was a great resorce.

But AcadX went to the wayside, so did/will DaveS DSX cad. I guess everything must come to an end at sometime.

*sigh*

When did Robert and co. drop AcadX? I haven't been over there in ages, but I always kept it on the backburner just incase.

It's been more than a year now, with many posts about it being relocated "anytime now". Then, about a month ago Frank O. posted that it will NOT be back, but offered to allow someone else to host the archives. A number of folks responded but I haven't seen anything else since.

Here's the message source from the post he made, I'm not sure if the email address is still valid.

I've decided not to bring AcadX back online. If someone here would like
to archive the site, please contact me via the email address on this
post.
Good luck! I'd sure like to get access to those archives! While I used Afralisp a bit, I used the ACADX site much more. When it went down I started doing some searches for CAD programming sites....somehow I ended up here...    :D
