Updating text in multiple drawings using FIND

(1/2) > >>

Jeff H:
Here is something I just tried and it worked, we had a bunch of drawings that had mleaders that called out “CAT 6 in ¾” CONDUIT” and needed to remove the “in ¾” CONDUIT”.
I did the following

* Open new empty drawing
* Used XA(XREF ATTCH) command(you can attach more than one drawing at a time)
* Selected all 60 sheets
* Unchecked all “Specify On-Screen” checkboxes so it would not prompt me for insertion point, etc… for each drawing.
* Used FIND command(Made sure I had search xrefs option checked)
* Did a Replace and it updated text and saved drawings.
* Charged job 4 hours
* Plan on spending next 4 hours watching cat videos on you tube

Nice .. glad it worked for you :) .. I've had CAD crash more often than not when doing a find and replace within xrefs.

Mark:
I would have never tried that. Thanks Jeff. :)  And definitely no cat videos. LOL

MSTG007:
DUDE!

That is a great trick! gotta try it.

I am creating a file just to try it, great tip.
