Plotting Hidden Lines
« on: April 09, 2019, 10:35:50 AM »
I know this topic has been done to death but I'm not getting the results some are suggesting.  When drawing 3d and plotting viewports I have many times that I want my viewport to show the hidden lines.  I set my VP to Visual Style of 2d wireframe, my shade plot to 3d hidden.  All colors are index color and I am using monochrome.ctb.  I want my plot to come out B&W however it is plotting the color of the layers.  Without doing a bunch of customizing, am I doing something wrong that needs changed to get all my lines to B&W regardless of which index color they are on.

One thing I'm noticing is that if I change the shade plot through the modify properties menu I can set it to 3d hidden.  But if I add an object field to tell me the shade plot property it says it is set to conceptual.  And conceptual seems to always follow the color.

It is helpful and I see great possibilities for it.  However, not what I'm looking for.  That is controlling the visual style.  What I need to control is the Shade Plot.

And 'as displayed' does not work?

as displayed does not work.  See attached...  note how when shade plot is set to 3d hidden it makes the hidden lines show dashed / hidden, that's what I want but I want the lines B&W not color .  This 3d hidden option does not appear to be available in all drawings.

Maybe try changing all your edge colors to white in the 3d Hidden visual style and make the silhouette edge width 1 ?

Thanks Ron, that is significantly better and much closer to what I'm looking for.

Seems like a very basic thing that just doesn't have an efficient way to control.
