Autocad MAP - Clipping SDF
« on: January 24, 2019, 08:13:38 AM »
I am trying to figure out how to clip this (FEMA Flood Plain) SDF file into the rectangle box area. I'd figure once I can get that part squared away, I can use the _mapexportcurrentmaptodwg command to make it a normal dwg.

I have tried both, options with under the Location on Map pull down. (Inside Rectangle and Touching any part of Rectangle).

Thanks for any direction!

Not quite sure what you mean? Will it not work with a "polyline" type thing? Does the polyline need to be its own SDF? Also, would I still use the Overlay Analysis Dialog Window?

I downloaded it from FEMA as a shapefile. I brought it into map then saved it out as a SDF file.

Could you draw a rectangle around the middle of the file? Then try to trim everything outside of the rectangle away? similar to an xclip.?

that's what I did....

I think you have an order of operation error....
perhaps clip prior to applying your theme(s)

If its an order of operations error. And yours worked. I wonder what I did wrong.

1. set coordinates in my drawing
2. connect to a SDF and bring it in
3. Style / Format SDF
4. Draw a rectangle around the area to be displayed
5. Within the Task Pane. Select All the SDF Layers at once
6. Query to Filter Data
7. Location on Map
8. Inside or Touching / Rectangle

As a result, I cannot clip the FEMA Flood Zone area. Some of the Cross Sections and BFE are removed, but the Flood Area is not.

so neither INSIDE

NOR

Touching produces desired result?

Attempt/clip of the data as the first step
then them the results

I tried to Add to Map with Query and have the same results as before with the first workflow. No luck.

check your PM's

also.....you might be overlapping everything, so the result you get doesn't match your expectations, i.e. it's working just not as expected

shoot me your file(s)
