Several methods, but whenever one of the Palettes display isn't on screen anymore open the CUI editor, select the current Workspace, pick the [Customize Workspace] button on the right, expand Palettes, select Command Line or whichever Palette is missing and change it's Orientation to something else like Bottom.

As long as your Workspace Settings… When Switching Workspaces is set to: "Do not save changes to workspace" simply switching to another Workspace and back again will fix the Palette as long as it's not set to Floating in the Workspace.

Always a good idea to save and export ones ACAD Profile (.ARG) file to someplace safe.

Then when something like this happens, import and set your profile current...and viola` problem solved.

ended up reloading the CUI,

there really should be a docking command, this seems to happen regularly

I find it hard to believe that the Windows (and Mac) operating systems do not know the limits of the current display.
I know that AutoCAD knows the location of a window or palette when said window/palette is open.
So it stands to reason that some simple calculations could tell AutoCAD when a window/palette is "off the screen" and if so, just display it in the center of the main application.

Of course the OS knows the position/size of the windows. But if Autodesk doesn't use that information, the window still can disappear off screen.

There is also a bug that if you start the program maximized, it covers the Windows Taskbar. Reported, but nothing is done about it.  :knuppel2:

I know.
My point is, this could easily be fixed, but fixing things like this does not help them make new software rentals.
So it goes ignored.

Sounds simple to implement but it's not - for example, consider what happens to screen coordinates when users make their right-most monitor the primary.
If you are going to fly by the seat of your pants, expect friction burns.
