Topic: Acad 2004 saving problem...

Ok, I have a achitect that wants files saved in version 2002, here lay's the problem...

2004 doesnt allow the down saving to version 2002. Nor does the Dwgconvert program in the migration tools.

I usually sve them to v2000 but they are complaining that the files dont work on their system.

I keep teeling them/my bosses that we can not save to 2002 and the problem lays on their side of the process.

Anyone know how to save to 2002 from 2004? I was going to reinstall v2002 but then i realized i cant open 2004 files in 2002 and saving them down to 2000 then back to 2002 would just be way too time consuming, so I scratched the idea.

The dwg format didn't change from 2000-2002. Are you using a vertical product instead of plain 2004?

You mave have to use the  "export"  command rather than "save as".

Nope just 2004.

If the 2000 version didnt change from 2002 then they shouldnt have a problem with the drawings right?

Exactly. I've created, worked and saved drawings in 2002 and able to open them in 2000 and 2000i. SaveAs 2000/2000LT should work just fine. As Dino stated you could try Export as 2000 but there is no difference between 2000 and 2002 as far as format of the file is concerned.

I was not aware that the format was the same. I am not sure what problems they are having on their end but all I can do is saveas 2000 and hope they work!
