Rendering to Scale
« on: April 13, 2017, 08:19:04 AM »
Starting with an AutoCAD 2017 drawing, what is the best way to end with a rendered, 1:1 scale version of the model?

Define "1:1 scale version" - are you talking an image?  Or 3D printing?  The former usually involves perspective and is sized in pixels so getting "true scale" images is reaaally difficult.

try {GreatPower;}
   catch (notResponsible)
      {NextTime(PlanAhead);}
   finally

It will be a top-down "plan" view of an assembly. The rendering will end up being placed on the floor for a graphical, accurate representation of something we cannot show without tearing up concrete, kind of like you had x-ray vision.

Huh - interesting thought.  Kind of a hard copy version of augmented reality.

Rather than rendering, I'd switch to one of the shaded visual styles then do a straight print with 1:1 scaling.  If this is bigger than a letter size you'd better switch background to white first, otherwise all that black ink will ripple the paper.

Let me go try that one...The final size is about a 26" x 41" with maybe 25% of that box being filled in with "stuff".

That was the money ticket! It's not perfect like a rendering but for what I need, it's perfect.
