Every face hosted family on linked model walls is upside down
« on: August 09, 2016, 06:49:30 AM »
Does anyone know why every face hosted family would be upside down for a model? Its linked in but if open it and try it directly I get same results.
I have height parameter created so I can tag it and it moves the family in negative z direction when hosted wall. Out of the box families does not matter what I have tried on every wall is 180 degrees rotated.

If I place families inside wall the they are correct(but of course who would want that).

Been out of the Revit game for a while but when you built your family did you place your geometry on the right side of the wall or the back side?  Also is the geometry on the right side of the X, Y, & Z?
I + XI = X is true ...  ... if you change your perspective.

I no longer CAD or Model, I just hang out here for camaraderie

I think it is?
Everything is face hosted that I am having problem with. Wall hosted works correctly inside model but will be linking it in so will be face hosted.

Its on top of the host in family and has worked in other projects, and since out of the box face hosted object are doing the same thing I am guessing it is something with the model.

what is considered top in family is not necessarily top in model and project views can affect this too such as rcp plans. it just all depends.. if you make your fmaily one way it'll be right half the time, if you make it another way it'll be right the half of the time,

They are all plan views I am looking at.

either way each object's face has its own xyz and the orientation can and will change. if things are upside down in plan then try having an rcp open and vice versa ..

I have no idea how that would effect that or if that was just one of these things with experience that it was a gut feeling but thanks.

For whatever reason, devices and such kept trying to attach themselves to the slab instead of the wall.
