Where do you specify manufacturer part numbers

If you specify manufacturer part numbers where do you specify them?

Either place but typically the specs are the best vehicle for conveying basis of design information.

Remember both documents are parts of a contract.

If they aren't spec'ed, they are placed on drawings. They can be in details and/or schedules.

Specs if at all possible,  schedules or notes when the engineer in charge is less involved with the specs than he ought to be.
