AutoCAD table from excel datalink
« on: July 08, 2016, 02:41:46 PM »
I'm working on switching over from OLE to native tables from Excel datalinks. I want to preserve excel formatting (merged cells, column width, etc) but I want to override the font used. So far the only way I can see of doing it is to uncheck the option to use excel formatting. But if I do that the tables took dreadful! Has anyone every wanted to do the same or have any thoughts on things I could try?

does your table template not let you pick the font?

Yes, but when I have the option of "Use Excel formatting" checked it overwrites the font. I need to be able to keep it checked but override the font somehow. The excel sheet has a lot of merged cells and column widths that i need to keep.

perhaps select a font that each application shares...as an example SIMPLEX is common to both applications

Seems like it goes to crap if excel has merged cells.

Unfortunately fonts are dictated and out of my control... TTF's have always caused us issues so that wouldn't be an option anyways.

They don't "have" to be merged, I can get away with just centering across selection... again though that still requires that the AutoCAD table matches Excel styling.
