I think This is more about how to set paper pagesetup.
Will probably help if you choose A0 as format with maximum resolution. That help for me most of the time..
Design is something you should do with both hands. My 2d hand , my 3d hand ..

Paper size doesn't directly affect print quality.

The resolution setting for PDF would be in the plotter/printer settings.

Thanks lamarn Yes A0 gives better resolution.

Thanks Rob... I'll change the resolution too

Of course the printed papersize does affect the quality. If the dpi is the same with a bigger size you get more dots for the whole print. Relatively it indeed does not effect dpi, I think that is what you mean..

By definition, the resolution, DPI, is dots per inch. If you are generating a PDF at 8.5x11 or 36x48 with 300 DPI, the resolution is the same on both sizes. Just because the larger sheet has more dots doesn't mean it is a higher resolution. It's how many dots are on a line one inch long.

Now, if you take that 8.5 PDF at 300 DPI and print it on 36x48 the resolution will get lower because you have the same number of dots but more inches. Conversly, a 36x48 PDF at 300 DPI printed on 8.5x11 will have a higher resolution.

One more try then.
If you scale a image with the same dpi what do you get?
Do you have a binoculars at home ?

Please reread my post.

One more try then.

Try what? Redefine resolution?

If you scale a image with the same dpi what do you get?

A different resolution. That is what I said. The question is about generating PDFs not printing an existing one. A larger sheet generated at the same DPI is going to have more dots, not a higher resolution. It's a ratio thing not an absolute value.

So, you agree?

You're not saying anything to refute my statements.
