Mechanical Equipment Family - View Range?
« on: November 30, 2015, 11:22:40 AM »
I have not noticed this before but I've encountered a problem. While in 3D view, everything is visible. In the reference plan view, nothing above 4.5' does not show. When inserted into a model all is well.

Is there something similar to view range in families?

And how does one do that? I am not seeing anything that I can apply to the reference level floor plan view.

What is your view detail set at in your reference plan?  Change it to see if anything changes.
I + XI = X is true ...  ... if you change your perspective.

I no longer CAD or Model, I just hang out here for camaraderie

Detail level is a good idea but also check the discipline of your view. -i.e. NOT Arch (choose coordination, Mech, or Elect).

Checked detail level. All is good.

I don't think there is a discipline setting as this is based off of the OOTB Mech Equip family template.

Select a reference plane, and view or modify its properties on the Properties palette.

Are you sure?

There is no discipline setting for the view within the family. LOL

Please tell me, oh wise one, how any of that information applies to visibility of objects and how I might be able to control the extents (view range) of the reference floor plan view. I am not seeing it.

The Scope Box may need to be resized to include the 3d extents, or possibly even assigned/reassigned to the views where your equipment is not being shown.

No scope box has been assigned. Try closing your eyes and throwing another dart.

I see the holiday spirit has yet to find you.

Try posting a sample drawing so we don't have to throw darts.
