How to put DWG on iphone and use GPS location
« on: November 18, 2015, 03:15:12 PM »
Does anyone know of a way to load a dwg file on an iphone and use the phone’s GPS to walk around on-site and view one’s location within the dwg plan set?
I know autodesk 360 will do this, but you have to purchase a Pro account before you can use the location options and this doesn’t work for giving this information to a client.
Any information on an alternate method would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, guys.

Maybe you could convert the drawing to KML then import to My Maps ?

design review will do this...NOT on iPhone....but hey, if they have the money to waste on IPhone a cheap Microsoft Tablet wouldn't stunt them

... Or just export to KML/KMZ from C3D. :-)

Toolspace, Toolbox tab, Miscellaneous Utilities node, Export KML node, right click Export KML (yes, there's two of them), select *Execute.

I 'spose you could be lazy, and just use the EXPORTKML Command instead. Haha

*Note - May require A360 login, and as always, be mindful of your Drawing Settings.

Cheers

I'm fine with the KML option, and My Maps looks interesting, but I can't get the stupid iphone to load a kml file.

a kmz is just a zipped up kml file.
I figured out that if I have the kml in a link, I can open the link with my phone and it will prompt me to open it in google earth. From there, you can see the kml data.
