Converting rvt file to iam without Revit
« on: October 17, 2015, 11:53:18 AM »
I use Product Design Suite Ultimate pretty much without the hope of any chance of a crossgrade to Building Design Suite Ultimate ("I'm not spending any more on CAD software at the moment")

If I have a largeish rvt file (200-300MB) is there a better way to be able to open it in Inventor than the following workflow?

  • convert the rvt file in Navisworks Manage to an fbx
  • import the fbx file into an AutoCAD dwg
  • use the command convtosolid to turn meshes into solids
  • export to sat file
  • import sat file into Inventor

Each process is lengthy enough to require me start it running just before I leave work each day so that it hopefully succeeds overnight!
Learnt AutoCAD when it was V12 for DOS...
Working it full time for about a decade...   ...currently using 2020...
Why does it seem like my knowledge of this program maneuvers with the eloquence of a fiery wall of disintegrating fuselage?
