Data Extraction in Acad 2015
« on: August 27, 2015, 10:05:48 AM »
Having used data extraction in Autocad 2012, I could list a table of blocks along with the X and Y coordinate of each block.

I am trying to do the same thing in the 2015 version and I cannot separate the X and Y coordinates into different Columns. I used to select "Position X" and "Position Y". Now I can only select "Position" and the column produces "xcoord, ycoord, zcoord".

Has anyone else had this issue and is there a way to split them up?

Thanks

Krushert

First off, Welcome to TheSwamp!

Second I am still running 2014 so I can not test it.  If this is as you say then that would be lousy thing to do to us

Keep us informed on what you find out.  I like the data extraction command
I + XI = X is true ...  ... if you change your perspective.

I no longer CAD or Model, I just hang out here picking up the empties beer cans

I'm not sure about 2015, but ACAD2016 seems to have fixed or works as expected

Thank you for the replies.

Here is a screenshot of what I am looking at. It seems to be an internal setting within my ACAD but I don't know where I can change this.

I'll let ye know if I find a fix, but thanks anyway for yer help.

Are you selecting only blocks?

Yes. Should I be selecting more?

Weird. You could export to a comma-delimited (csv) file then parse it with excel.

It is strange because I used it a few weeks ago with 2012. It must be a setting on my ACAD somewhere.

I have used the method of exporting to excel but I was hoping someone would have experienced the same issue and solved it within CAD.

Thank you for your time and suggestions. It's just frustrating because I know it can be done.

It sure looks like you've selected a viewport.  Perhaps try it by selecting only a single block and see if it works?

There is a viewport included in the screenshots I put up, however they were taken as part of a quick example I did. I have the same issue with just blocks, even when I select the block by highlighting it.

The COORDS variable was set to 1. I have changed it to 0, 2, 3 but got the same result. I am working in the WCS. Does this answer your question? Thank you again for your help.
It seems like changing a setting like this would solve my problem.
