File Associations
« on: July 22, 2015, 03:51:03 PM »
Is there a quick / painless way to reassociate all of AutoDesk's file extension to their applicable program?

eg; .dwg, .dst, .dwt, .pc3, .lsp, etc.

Set your default programs
Open Default Programs by clicking the Start button , and then clicking Default Programs.
Click Associate a file type or protocol with a program.
Click the file type or protocol that you want the program to act as the default for.
Click Change program.

Or you could try running a repair.

Repair was a no-go, attempting a reinstall next.

No because AutoCAD does not simply use acad.exe as the target.

DWG launcher is used for .dwg, I haven't found how .dst, .pc3, .dwt etc opens.

Did not test this but maybe?
"C:\Program Files\Autodesk\AutoCAD 2016\AdMigrator.exe" /reset /product ACAD /language "en-US"

DWG launcher is used for .dwg, I haven't found how .dst, .pc3, .dwt etc opens.

DST  = Sheet Set Manager

pc3 = Plotter configuration

DWT = Drawing Templte, i.e. Autocad.exe

Why not just Associate DWG and leave it at that?

I never open sheet sets without using the Sheet Set interface
Same for PC3's

What are your really attempting to do?

Just fix a botched installation without removing and reinstalling (so far repair and reinstall through AutoCAD hasn't worked), having a file with the default "no icon" icon and no program to open it up is a teensy bit annoying.

Attempting to open a .dst with the target as acad.exe throws an error as an unknown drawing type.

I'd assume this is the same process as going through Add / Remove Programs and resetting AutoCAD from there.
