xref color
« on: June 03, 2015, 02:30:36 PM »
Hi guys,

I've created a xref file, and I have 3 different color in layer named test (the color is not by layer).
So I have to change the color of all objects to color 253.
How Can I do that?

I couldn't change the colors objects from the main project, just the xref file.

I tried to create a filter layer and change the color, but isn't working.

Thank you

They need to BYLAYER in the xref file for you to be able to change the color in the main project drawing.

Separate the three colors into three layers and use color By Layer. The color can then be changed in the referencing file.

If not BYLAYER not much you can do to override them

Really?

I think I could managed the color from objects in xref file.
Without changed the main file.

It could be good.
I think it is the only way.

AutoCAD 2016 allows you to change the color of any xref entity regardless if it's set to BYLAYER in the child drawing.

Check the XREFOVERRIDE sysvar.

This might be the best thing I've heard of from Autodesk in a long time. I don't know how many architect plans I've exploded over and over to get all the blocks down to lines just so I could change all objects to be bylayer.

I've been using THIS gem to accomplish bylayer for about 12 years now  :)

Kinda looks like the equivalent to Autodesk's SETBYLAYER command.
