Uggg.. Plotting to TIFFs
« on: April 22, 2015, 02:12:06 PM »
Uhhhggg

Have a client that is requesting that we not only issue a DWG file and a PDF, but now a TIFF as well.  Is there any really good DWG_to_TIFF drivers out there, so I can publish instead of manually exporting TIFFs from PDF?

or

is there a drag and drop method to output quality TIFFs from PDF's

Most of the time we do this it's one or two PDF's to convert, but I'm looking at doing 300 per project.  I'd like to find a way to automate this.
I am very  trainable....   (forgive my spelling)

I'm not sure of your software but we utilize KIP. A program called KIP Request can convert PDF to Tiff per directory in a batch-esque process.

Can you be more specific, what I am finding online is some software that seems to be related to Printer Management.

Is there a full software title or a webpage listed in the help or the About for the software you are using?

You can create a TIFF plotter in CAD .. but IMO it would be faster to convert the existing PDF's.
Not free but we use Bluebeam Revu and it's a helluva editor. :)

Not that this necessarily helps you any, but we would use Oce Direct Print Pro to do it with software, or in case that was N/A or failed, I would just have someone scan the printed drawings to TIF.
A few people have Bluebeam also, so I suppose they could use that.

I'm liking the look and feel of

http://www.print-driver.com/download

but the client currently has their tiffs in the CCITT T.6 compression (monochrome)

not seeing an option for that in the software.. sent an email to support to find out what is (standard) with the software.

I'm sure CCITT T.4 (monochrome) is acceptable.  Just need to find out what the software actually provides.

IIRC, the CALs plotters, listed in PlotterManager under Raster file formats, are TIF files with a .cal extension.  Might be worth a shot...

Try ImageMagick http://www.imagemagick.org/

I used to once to split large image into multiple tiles, seems very powerful and runs from command line. Quick search came up with:

Once you have created the PDF file it is easy to create the TIFF from within Adobe Acrobat.  Much better than within AutoCAD.
