AecDetailsWelding in AutoCAD Architecture as AutoCAD
« on: April 22, 2015, 12:21:56 PM »
Hi gang,

I think I posted about this before but I can't seem to find it. If so... sorry for the double post.

Here is my conundrum:

My client has AutoCAD Architecture 2014.
They run it "As AutoCAD"
They want to make use of the command "AecDetailsWelding"
This command is only available (apparently) when running AutoCAD Architecture using the profile AutoCAD Architecture (Global) or similar.

I have been searching high and low but cannot figure out how to get that command working in the "AutoCAD only" profile.

Loading AecDetailsWeldCMD.lsp does not do the trick... It loads properly but issuing the command yields:

"AecDetailsWelding no function definition: AECRCP_KWORD"

Any help is greatly appreciated.

No experience with that lisp but the error indicated that another lisp is needing to be loaded as well.
Often lisp routine will call on sub routines that must be loaded to access the sub functions.

OT .. Why would you pay for a vertical suite and run it as vanilla? IMO .. The simple answer is run the program you bought and the commands will be available to you.

Silly Ronjonp!  Speaking with common sense.

Actually I have run ACA in architectural mode but just drew everything in 2d lines for going on 15 years.  AKA no one wanted 3d walls.  But we used ACA for it's detailing tools and commands.  Very powerful in a 2D world.  Now if and when we need 3D we go Revit but a lot of our clients are still in 2D AutoCAD.
I + XI = X is true ...  ... if you change your perspective.

I no longer CAD or Model, I just hang out here picking up the empties beer cans

You could check this thread out which has a weld routine I use allot. Written by a friend of mine about 15 years ago, it's not perfect but it works pretty good for me.

You might try APPLOAD....then root around under the program directory and find what is there to chose from...

those APPS are probably listed as being loaded in the 'ARCHITECTURE' profile....and or some clues can be found within the CUI
under that profile

Thanks everyone.

I feel like I've loaded every LSP, ARX, DVB etc. I could find that might contain that command... with no luck.

I'll keep trying as I find time and post any answers here.

Another option...

ask WHY and or WHAT part of Autocad Architecture they don't like or need....

and then create a workspace/cui that removes that parts they don't like,
or menu items they don't want.

And then let them run that profile-probably far easier than trying to turn a square peg into a dodecahedron.

As a consultant, sometimes you must get to the root oft he request, and sometimes you don't give them what they are asking for
thee way it is requested; rather as the way that works.
