What are the BEST traing books for AutoCAD 2015?
« on: April 06, 2015, 11:24:53 AM »
I would like to hear from CAD users to what their favorite Training Books for AutoCAD are and which ones are the easiest to learn from. I am updating from AutoCAD 2012 to AutoCAD 2015, the newer version has "The Ribbon" that I am not familiar with. So I know there will be a big learning curve. I work in the architectural field, so books leaning towards that field will better suit my needs. I will probably buy more than one training book. I see two books on Amazon not sure how well they are: Mastering AutoCAD 2015 and AutoCAD LT 2015 by George Omura & AutoCAD 2015 and AutoCAD LT 2015 Bible by Ellen Finkelstein. Does anyone know if they are for architecture? Is one better than the other for ease of learning? Any feedback will be appreciated. Thanks

I don't think you need any book to 'learn' the ribbon.

As to applying 'Autocad' to architecture, some would opine that you would be 'best' served to invest your efforts in REVIT not autocad.

I am looking for intense training for the whole AutoCAD program not just the ribbon. The company I work for not interested in Revit as we do not design buildings. We design window & door assemblies within our vendors guidelines. Even AutoCAD Architecture is beyond what we need (according to the owner), as I have requested to that vertical product. Thanks for your input!!!

Window and door assemblies?

Are these wood or metal?  Could be that Inventor is more suited to that task.

Are you using 3d models to generate views/assembly drawings?

I've skimmed various versions of both of those books over the years and I don't think you can go wrong either way.

For a tiny investment, you might look into this eBook (it's for 2014)
