Field not updated when close and open again
« on: March 04, 2015, 04:42:32 AM »
I created a block showing the level as a field.
The attribute value should be updated when close and open again.
the value is OK in model but did not updated in layout I have to open the viewport then REGEN then close
System variable FIELDEVAL = 31

Please advice

So you are pulling the "Y" value and rounding to the nearest hundredths? Everything seems fine here if I insert a new block. One suggestion, set the attribute to preset - yes

Insert the block then change annotative then move the block using insertion point (not move comamnd) then back to first annotative.

Still can't duplicate the issue here with Vanilla 2015 AutoCAD

sounds more like a problem with your method; than a problem with the field....

IF

what you are doing is causing the field to malfunction

STOP

doing it that way

If you are pulling elevation, wouldn't you want the Z value?

they may be using the Architectural definition of the word 'elevation'
NOT the Civil definition; although in some countries to avoid this potential confusion the
Civil persons use the term 'levels' where we in the US might use elevation, i.e. Z value.

Yes most of the problem is because of user method.
The HOD came to me with this problem, PDF file showing a level and DWG file showing another level.
The solution wha tI found is to delete all unused annotative from the objects or insert the block each time.

But I am searching for a solution to avoid the user mistake.

Actually the
Quote
insert the block each time
, is the 'proper' way
technically autocad would prefer that one INSERTS a block each time the block is needed
rather than COPY the block.
That being said; we all know that some people just wont follow that simple advice.
Let me see If I can offer any other help...downloading your block now...

it may, just may have to do with REGENAUTO being turned OFF...

and then the user upon being prompted to regen answers NO....and so it does not
