where are the shp files for hatch patterns stored?
« on: February 20, 2015, 04:59:30 PM »
I know I should know this....but where in world are the shp files stored for hatch patterns?

Is it compiled?  Can I add to it?

What is that file name...?

You can create your own .pat files and put them in the support file search paths.

I don't know if the common patterns are single files or included in the drawing. I think, once you load a custom one, it is included.
The conclusion is justified that the initialization of the development of critical subsystem optimizes the probability of success to the development of the technical behavior over a given period.

Thanks all for my poorly formed question...Just going crazy in circles trying to find where either

Maestro 5.1
or

Infrastructure Studio

stores their version of what appears to be autocad PAT file for area fills.....

Not familiar with either of those, but if they put hatch patterns in AutoCAD you can get the definitions with:

http://www.turvill.com/t2/free_stuff/getpat.lsp
GETPAT.LSP (c) 2001 Tee Square Graphics
    Version 1.01b - 1/22/2002

This routine may be used to extract hatch pattern data
from existing drawings when the .pat file containing
the original information is not available.

PAT files are recognized if you put them in your current DWG drawing folder
Design is something you should do with both hands. My 2d hand , my 3d hand ..

As it turns out...those patterns are hard coded into that application....
so there is no support for adding PAT, or SHX files to it.

And that would explain why various searches of the directories revealed NO such files within the folders for that application.

And I was holding out hope that maybe, just maybe it shared other installed autodesk resources.  (fat chance!)

I've not used those programs but the hatch patterns they use shouldn't be too difficult to mimic.

They are mostly EXACTLY the same patterns as Autocad.
They are NOT (PAT or SHX) files.
They CAN NOT be added to or deleted from.
They are embedded in the application code.

I have been sent and told approximately what I must do using a 'work around' to take my desired pattern object(s) and convert it to XML file format
and then I will be able to do area fills with that data as part of what they call 'advanced stylization', although it seems to be very primitive.

The price of OPENSOURCE.....and of course a similar feature DOES exists and is better supported in the pay version.
