Viewport List Locked?
« on: February 13, 2015, 11:18:57 AM »
Is there some way to lock this out or a setting that will affect this? I click on it and it won't pop up to allow me to change the scale in my viewport. The viewport is (obviously) unlocked.

that isn't the box you think it is...

and or you need to ACTIVATE the viewport FIRST to change it's scale

I did activate the viewport first and I tried clicking in it and I deleted and re-drew it. I clicked the Unlock in the layout viewport section in the ribbon and my list was available and usable. It's working fine now. But, because you mention it, I am assuming there is more to know so please explain?

the fact that you HAD to UNLOCK the viewport tells the whole story....

obviously it WAS locked.

According to piccy I posted it was NOT locked.

Obviously.

Even with my lack of comprehension lately, I caught that.

yes, and then you said you UNLOCKED it....and then it allowed you access to the scales list, right?

Notice the bold text. She was not unlocking the previously mentioned viewport. The previously mentioned viewport was unlocked according the the little padlock icon in the unlock position indicating that the previously mentioned viewport was indeed unlocked.

Comprehend?

This is what I read:

1)   I did activate the viewport first and

2)   I tried clicking in it and

3)   I deleted and

4)    re-drew it.

5)   I clicked the Unlock in the layout viewport section in the ribbon and my list was available and usable.

So it appears that even the NEW viewport wanted to be unlocked prior to the viewport scale list being available.

Now that may or may not have been the issue; and we will never know because the first viewport was deleted without any forensic testing being done to it.

First viewport had the unlocked symbol but would not allow me to bring up the scales list and/or change the scale. Before deleting first viewport I attempted several methods to make the viewport unlockable including highlighting it and clicking into it. These did not work. Therefore, I erased and drew a new viewport and found the problem was the same. I then looked for an alternative method to unlock viewports and found one in the ribbon bar that I have never used before. It worked. This is a solution but does not answer why the viewport appeared unlocked and was not.

And we will never know cause OR solution without a sample of the afflicted file.

It could have been this guy:

MAXACTVP (System Variable)

Sets the maximum number of viewports that can be active at one time in a layout.

Type:   Integer
Saved in:   Drawing
Initial value:   64
MAXACTVP has no effect on the number of viewports that are plotted.

Though I doubt it.
