Plot from the layout

Hi guys,
I'm using autocad since 2012.
And I've never plotted my projects from the paperspace.
I used to plot from the model space, and I think it is easier than layout.

But I'd to asking for your comments about it.

 :?  Having plot sheets in modelspace went out many moons ago ( 2000 ish ? ). I can't imagine how it would be easier with all the tools we have now.

look into setting up NAMED PAGE SETUPS your plotting life will be made so much easier...no more guessing, no more windows, no more extents.....just plotting bliss.

This topic has been discussed hundreds of times. It used to be a "hot" topic but that heat has dissipated about which to use with a vast majority of people using layouts. Putting title blocks in model space is considered "old school" for a reason. The differing opinions now are on how much to put in paper space.

What it really comes down to is what works for you.

If you are producing professional drawings that have multiple scales on the same sheet of paper, using paper space is a no brainer.

If you are producing professional design drawings that are to a scale, using paper space is a no brainer.

If you are drawing pretty pictures, you are probably using the wrong program, but plotting from model space is probably for you.

If you are producing schematic type drawings, model space is probably still the best bet, more so if you have a few thousand legacy drawings done that way already and/or a vertical or third-party tool only functions in model space.

It depends on what type of work you do.  Paper Space has been around since r11, I started 22 years ago with r12 plotting with Paper Space.  Others say schematic type drawings are easier in Model Space, but never having done one I couldn't say.

What type of drawings do you do?

Not much difference to me really. The difference is mainly that in model space you are 1:1 scale and must adjust layers on and off for each plot. In paper space you can set a different scale and set layers (permanently per viewport) so you can just plot. I like, too, that I never have to adjust my text or leader style because if I put them in paper space  they are all "standard". Paperspace gives you more options without having to adjust a finished drawing. I have opened model space only drawings and created a layout and plotted from that just so I didn't have to mess with the original drawing and because, to me, plotting from a layout is easier. imo

I'm attaching a project example.

I don't think the paperspace will be easier than model space (for that project).

Maybe if I create only the project and the model space and the other specification like tables, details and so on I put in paper space.
It will be nice!

You lost me there.  :blink: I thought I knew this but...what exactly is a vertical and why would it not be an option? (We are talking about AutoCAD??)

Vertical AutoCAD products are those built on top of the core AutoCAD - Map3D, Mechanical, Civil3D, AutoCAD Electrical, and so on.
