I have this problem a lot, but I often work with pdf xref drawing and i am working with one that slows down my CAD so much that its impossible to work with any tips?

how are you attaching it?
IF
using MAP there is a setting to reserve memory for images
not sure if it has any impact on A)PDF's or B)PDF, as XREF

also check all files for excess annotative scales, audit, and purge as you see fit
further see shat setting you have for XLOADCTL? suggest setting of 3 might help

PDF's are notoriously cumbersome within CAD, especially with vector PDF's.
Suggested fix has always been to convert to DWF or TIFF (if you dont mind losing the snappy points)
