Civil3D - Feature Line as Block or 3D Poly as block in Surface
« on: November 03, 2014, 12:13:58 PM »
Question is can I add a block of a 3D Poly or Feature Line into a surface where it will triangulate all the vertexes and not just the insertion point of the block? I have a bunch of pads that are detailed out with feature lines. I would like to change one elevation on the feature line group and it do the rest of the pads without me going to each one to adjust it. Any ideas? Thanks!

how are these feature lines related to each other?

perhaps you could associate them from a corridor element

give me a clearer picture of the desired end result

I have one 3d poly that goes around the bldg. pad and then garages, entrances and stoops.

I have one 3d poly that goes around the bldg. pad and then garages, entrances and stoops.
IF it is already at desired design elevations
select and ADD to Surface as Break Line....

Otherwise...use get elevations from surface feature in the elevation editor for the feature line....

to make it dynamic to a surface/profile there is a way to connect it to a corridor...it's and abstract method
falls into advanced use

*and I'm still not totally sure what your end goal is?
is this for ONE building or for many building with similar footprint and grading design?

Heres the thought process. I have bldg. footprint in a block. If I copy that block around several places. I can do a block editor and change something in it and it will update the others. In that same thought process, I was curious if I could that with feature lines or a 3D Poly.

not without later exploding that block, and then potentially editing elevations along and or within the feature line.
