Revision Block
« on: August 04, 2014, 12:38:42 PM »
The attached is a 'legacy' Revision Block that is becoming an issue due to resistance to change.

Personally I find a few things wrong with this block, and want to move the company to a more standardized
revision table - that is included within the sheet list.

Here are my objections:

It appears limited to 9 sheets in a drawing set.

The number of sheets in the set does not match the number of sheets in the revision block, if there are less than
9 sheets in the set.

No way to know the date of the revision or description of the revision.

The sheets also have a second separate revision block on them, leading to duplication of effort
and or omission of information as these two different revision blocks are not using fields or other automation.

I have never seen such a revision block ever used.

It duplicates 'scale' information that is already on the sheet.

So I am asking for a little help or guidance in this forum:

First is anyone using a revision block that is the same as this one?

Do you see any other issues with this revision block other than the ones I've listed above?

Thanks for your time with this.

For the reasons stated, that's garbage and pretty much useless.

Further- I would also like input on sheet numbering.

I have almost always started my sheet numbering with the cover sheet being sheet 1.

There is want to NOT number the cover sheet, and this is also a sticking point to me,
as it is a sheet and it should have a number.

The first sheet needs a number. If someone else gets the set they won't know the top sheet is missing without it (if it is indeed missing which is easy to do if it's not numbered).

It depends on the information on that sheet. If it is just a sheet with project information like project name and address, then maybe it could go without a number but if it has any information about the drawing set or any type of references necessary to build the project then it definitely needs a number.

In other words, if it is just a fancy sheet with a couple logos and maybe a picture or two that acts as a cover/protector for the true drawing set, like the cover a book, then you could go with no number. Anything more than that, it definitely needs a number.

We utilize sheet set manager and the cover page (when required) is labeled as Sheet 0 of XX. Not sure if this is industry standard but going this way it does not count towards the number of actual "drawings"

you know we joked about that here....

something like

Only in Engineering can you have a Zero sheet
but you can't have a sheep Zero, sheep 1 sheep 2 sheep 4

Could you add a field for the birthday of the person who made the change?  Because that's almost as helpful as having the revision scale.  :/

I am certain the person(s) clinging to this piece of drafting trash would find no humor in that suggestion.

However - you are killing it with that one!   :lmao:
