What about both (or all 3)? Or even pop-up right-click menu (or all 4)? I generally go with all 4, keyboard shortcuts being my first choice for most of the commands, Ctrl/Alt/Shift/F keys for the most used stuff, right-click for specials depending on selection, and buttons for the rest.
