Fields in Dynamic Block
« on: May 08, 2014, 01:02:09 PM »
I havent really used Dynamic blocks alot and was wondering if this is possible to do this or
if there is something else I can use/do in AutoCad to achive the end result.

I want to make a rectangular dynamic block that will stretch incramentally both horizontally and vertically
and update the attributes in my example.

Im assuming fields would need to be use used instead of attributes.
I think the length, width, and area would be easy but, Im not quite sure how I would be able to have a
field for the cost and the weight. Maybe a table/excel file?
Thanks for the Help! :-)

you can add a formula

in attached see the formula uses the AREA of an object to calculate something

Yes, yes I do.

We even found a way to do 3D dynamic block functions quite by accident one day  in a class.
Even though technically they only support 2d functions.

And for a guy in the Industrial Rack and Shelving business it was a huge obstacle to be able to conquer that.

I am in need of some help again.
I've created my dynamic block and everything is working good except for 1 thing.
I want the block with attributes within the dynamic block to be centered horizontally and vertically within the dynamic block.
I have already tried the move action with the linear parameter at a .5 multiplier as well as the stretch action with the same multiplier.
As it was shown on www.cad-notes.com/how-to-keep-attributes-at-dynamic-block-center/
Please note the block was created in ADT07 educational version.
Thanks again!

And 1 more thing,...there will be multiple instances of this dynamic block in a drawing with varying sizes to cover different size areas of a floor plan.
How can I have the data update in those other instances instead of it looking at the first instance?
Thank you!

Hi snownut2,

Is there a specific post or thread you are referring to?
I was just making it known so nobody copies something from the file and gets the watermark on their files.
Thanks.

Nope, just trying to make you aware of the perils of the student versions.

Hope you don't plan on sending the plans to other users.

I am fully aware of the student version issue and would not send it to anyone without them knowing about it first. hence my "please note"
**Warning** to anyone who downloads the D-Mesh.dwg on this thread please be aware that it was created with an educational version and ANYTHING copied from this file will place a permanent watermark on anything printed from that file.
As long as you don't copy anything from the file you will be fine & I would REALLY appreciate any help on the issues I'm having with making this dynamic block so i can get an upgrade at work and get stuff done faster and keep the rest of my hair. :-)
I am trying to get this dynamic block working on my personal bought and paid for student version of ADT07 so I can show it to my manager (on my laptop only) as an example only of how much time/money/etc the latest version will save the company so he can justify us upgrading from AutoCAD 2002. To me (and probably everyone on here) it's a no-brainer but they want to see stuff so here I am.
Thanks.

Doing this from memory; To remove the educational version, insert the file through a reference using a licensed version and it should get filtered out.
