The first one, is definitely 'a'.

What is the SmoothDisplay (SmoothLineDisplay) setting for both versions? For me, 2012 is OFF by default, 2015 is ON. Using a drawing with contour lines I do see a small difference, much like your images. But setting the smoothlinedisplay to OFF in 2015 then makes it look identical to 2012. Conversely, setting this to ON in 2012 then makes that dwg appear 'fuzzy'. These settings are in 3dconfig(2012) & Graphicsconfig(2015).

was running the same tests

I'm reminded of a time long ago, with a cad station far far away

I was given a super high powered Video card to 'test'

By the time we dumbed it down enough for it to stop crashing, it wasn't worth having

This is starting to feel like a case of retrograde 'development'; seriously NOT impressed at all.

I just request a disc/USB drive and while says it'll take several weeks, I've always received my copy within a week.

What's that cost (sorry, no longer logged in; just curious)?
free.

Good to know; never requested that option before.  :-)
I always request one to have a hard copy on a shelf, and just to have something tangible representing the thousands of dollars I didn't spend.

Just received the +/- 30GB USB drive for IDSP 2015; it arrived much faster than I expected, comes in a fully branded metal casing, and is pretty schnazzy.  :-)

Cheers

I truly dislike the 'fuzzy' graphics display of objects in 2015.
Maybe my old eyes are no longer able to see clearly. But the graphics like pretty much the same in these 2 drawings. One is from C3D2012, the other C3D2015. Other than the difference in how selected objects are highlighted, I sure don't see any difference.

Regarding how selected items highlight, "selectioneffect" set to 0 will change the highlight to the typical dashed line vs the blue highlight.

What's driving some of my users crazy is the change made with the paperspace tabs...the scroll arrows disappeared.  Not liking the new scrolling features of the tabs.

From my observations; this is NOT a must have upgrade by a long shot.
Are there a few 'nice' to have things, sure.  Is it a watershed release?  NO!

As an aside, how are things in South Dakota?

1+... The ability to retain C3D corridor targets for swapped corridor assemblies.

I would have put ALL the stuff that is FUBAR with Pipe networks WAY ahead of that as a thing to 'FIX' or 'ADD' to the software.

Cold.   23 O F this morning.  New record low for mid-may.  Speaking of FUBAR'd pipe networks, yeah.  Don't mind sanitary but I absolutely abhor attempting water pipe networks, and I'm not even going to mention pressure networks.

And that's why I left 30 years ago, right after the infamous Winter of Red Snow

but at least that 23 is _above_ 0

Will be doing a roll out here this week, however not removing 2014 just yet.

Curious, what version of Civil 3D is the most productive and stable? We are looking at upgrading to 2014. Your
eval. would be very helpful.

They are all productive and stable
Given:
Proper Hardware
Proper Training
Proper Workflows (see training above)

However given the lack of significant added functionality I'm taking a very negative approach to switching to 2015.

There are also several serious bugs in Civil 3D 2015 so I would not recommend using 2015 yet.

To name a few:

- It is not possible to change layers in the Surface style for Elevations, but in 2014 you can.
- The new mechanism to lock Profile geometry points to the Alignment geometry points works really well, but the behavior in 2014 (lock at Alignment start) is not working anymore.
- It is not possible to add a WMS connection (you could run the Map 3D Service Pack to fix this...)
- etc.

If these are not big issues, Civil 3D 2015 is working, but I would wait for the first Service Pack.
The conclusion is justified that the initialization of the development of critical subsystem optimizes the probability of success to the development of the technical behavior over a given period.

you also forgot that any Assemblies made with Sub Assembly composer are NOT usable in 2014
and if I recall, also the survey database will no loger open in 2014 once opened with 2015

so much for compatibility
