The Holy Grail of C3D--Renumbering Points
« on: April 19, 2014, 07:36:17 AM »
I think I've found a way to renumber points, sequentially from 1, in a drawing. Export points, then import them back into the drawing using this setting:

Please see attachment. Note: How do you insert a PNG into the body of a post?

If you want your points to start at 1 and you already have a Point Number 1 in the drawing, erase it and set Next Point Number to 1.

I wouldn't call that the holy grail.

That 'trick' extends all the way back to Land Desktop.

The settings are different but the results are the same.

Thanks for sharing though...

Michael,

Knowing how to do something in Land Desktop doesn't help you much in C3D.

The reason I called it The Holy Grail of C3D is because I've seen the question come up countless times on the C3D Forum and the Surveyor Connect Forum. All kinds of WorkArounds have been proposed, like LISP Routines, Excel, and Third-Party software, but in all my searches I've not seen anyone point to this.

Dave

P.S. I found it by reading through the Help Section this morning.

Good on you.

Another , perhaps even easier way,
Export the points WITHOUT numbers
Delete all existing points
Reset the counter
Re-import your points

Although in most cases it is advisable to NOT renumber survey point data.

And it is also advisable to not design using points.

The thought being Surveyors collect points and set points.
Not Engineers.

Happy Saturday!
