Wipeout raster image prints solid
« on: April 05, 2005, 11:04:10 AM »
Does anyone know how to make the raster image produced by a wipeout to print transparently not solid? I am hoping it has nothing to do with the plotter,  but unfortunetly it look like it does. :(

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Not 100% if I know what you're asking, but ddmodify the image and change the transparency of it to YES.

also, what shading are you using?  Yuo probable want 2d wireframe, but sometimes these things get changed.  BTW what plot driver are you using?

Autocad will not allow me to change it to a transparency, and technically I want a solid, but one that has the same colour as the background. Hence a wipeout.

I have used a wipeout to cover an area in an xref. The area in question is identical on 5 floors, but the sixth has a slightly different function. So I wiped out the room on the sixth floor and drew what I need over top.   Wipe outs work great, and I have never had a problem with them before printing as a solid. Since I upgraded to 2006 my wipeouts are now being printed as a black solid. The area in question shows up fine in the plot preview, but when the plt file is made the area is a black rectangle.

I'm not entirely sure if this would work in your situation but you may also want to look into XCLIP. You may be able to clip out the 6th floor using this instead of a wipeout.

Xclip will not work in this case. The area in questions is relatively small and it is located in the center of the plan. A Xclip would be quite complicated to do.
Thanks for the suggestion thou, I might have to go this root until I get the problem figured out. :(

Problem Solved!
It was the printer driver. Apparently the HP printer driver supplied by Autodesk for our printer is not the greatest and it is recommended by Autodesk to switch the driver for HP plotter to a system printer driver instead. Which I did and now the solid raster is gone! :)

Thanks guys for all your help!
