Topic: What controls regen time? Video card?

This past week has been he77 using ADT.  Regen times on some of these houses (changing from plan to iso) can take about 30 seconds.  Is this based on the video card?  I was going to upgrade it, but I wanted to make sure first.  It's a Radeon 7000 Series, 64MB.

Set your DISPSILH to 0.In your options - system - current 3D graphics display (properties) - "acceleration to hardware"

Short and quick answer....nope

I really thought it would deal with the video card memory

there are lots of things that can make a difference. Try reducing viewres and turn regenauto off

Obvious question is have you got a number of XREF's that are located on a server for this drawing?Might be a slow server.Myabe you could copy the XREF's to your PC reload them and see if its faster.
Also in CAD 2K4 theres a variable called REGEAUTO.You can turn off the autromatic regen which tells AutoCAD not to regenerate automatically, but instead to display Regen queued on the command line and let you force a regeneration with the REgen command if you want to.That mightn get round your problem for now.
