Creating shp file "island"
« on: February 28, 2014, 03:00:34 PM »
Good afternoon all.

Today's issue revolves around creating a .shp file for GIS mapping.

I can create the shp file fine, and connect it to a drawing and all that, but the file consists of two closed polygons, one inside the other.  I want to exclude the inner polygon area from the outer polygon, creating an "island" for lack of better term.  I can't figure out how to get the outer polygon to recognize the inner polygon and not include it in the outer "area".

I'm not real familiar with mapping and .shp files and such.  Any idears to this (probably vague and poorly worded) question?

run the MPOLYGON command and select the two plines to create a map polygon.  When you run MAPEXPORT, choose POLYGON as the objects to export, and select the new MPolygon.

that ought to do it.
